Component 1

Power System installations under this component total 6.92 MW, where photovoltaic (PV) plants across the island make up 4.92 MW and microturbines, 2.0 MW, of capacity in a critical location for backup.

Bowmanston PV plant was divided into two phases. Phase 1, which is 0.42 MW, is completed and in operation, decreasing the overall power consumption and GHG emissions from the water pumping station. Phase 2, which is 0.5 MW, has been fully mobilized and commenced on February 15, 2022, in accordance with Local Environmental Health and Safety Regulations. To date, fencing has been erected and marking of the PV tables at the Bowmanston site has been completed. In addition, construction of the mounting structure on which the PV plant sits commenced with drilling of holes for the piles and pouring of concrete to make the piles which form the foundation for the plant.

There are two other PV plant locations – one in Hampton, St. Phillip and one at Belle in St. Michael, which is the most populated parish of the island. The land situated at both Belle and Hampton site locations has been surveyed and ready for PV and microturbine installations starting September 2022.
